  Investment Manager
External Managers Department

Why did you join GIC?
The many facets of GIC attracted me. I spent my first year in GIC on rotation through different departments. It was beneficial and memorable as I got to know the different parts of GIC and became acquainted with colleagues from different departments.

What duties do you carry out within a typical day/week?

I am currently with the External Fund Management Department. Among some of my responsibilities as an investment officer in this department are to conduct due diligence on potential external managers, research on new strategies as well as to monitor existing managers' performance and business.

What gives you most enjoyment in the work you do?
I enjoy the work as it allows me to come in contact with and learn from managers that are varied in their investment styles and strategies. My colleagues add "flavour" to my work. Some are like strawberry; sweet and pleasant to work with. Some are like peppermint; refreshing to converse with. A few of them are chocolate in flavour (milk or dark) and will make you happy working with them.

Tell us about your social life, interests and hobbies
Originally from Malaysia, I had my secondary and pre-university education in Singapore. My family has since relocated to Singapore and we are happy here even though some friends would not agree with that. You see, I live in Woodlands and they think that I want to stay there because of its proximity to Malaysia.
