GIC has two offices in New York: 335 Madison Avenue houses the GIC Asset Management operations, while Cityspire, at 156 West 56th Street, accommodates the East Coast operations of GIC Real Estate and GIC Special Investments.
Our New York offices are an extension of the Singapore headquarters. For example, our New York portfolio managers are able to execute their orders in equities and bonds during the time the markets are open and most liquid. The New York offices also help develop and maintain relationships within the financial community, and act as listening posts in the financial markets.
New York, being one of the world's most important financial centres, is a leader in market technology, and the place to learn if a fund manager is to be first-class. Hence, many of our Singapore-based staff are often posted to New York for short stints.
