Dr Tony Tan is appointed as the Deputy Chairman & Executive Director with effect from 1 Sep 05.
He heads the senior management team.
The Group Managing Director is responsible for the business and operations of GIC. Under him, the Corporate Services Departments ensure the smooth running of the GIC group.
The investment portfolio is managed by three subsidiaries - GIC Asset Management Pte Ltd, GIC Real Estate Pte Ltd and GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd which are responsible for public markets, real estate and private equity investments respectively. Each subsidiary operates independently and has its respective Board of directors to oversee its operations. The Group Chief Investment Officer has strategic oversight of the investment activities of these subsidiaries. The Economics & Strategy Department, and Investment Policy & Strategy Department, assist the Group Chief Investment Officer by providing macro economic analysis and formulating the investment policy and strategy.
In addition, the Chief Risk Officer heads the Risk & Performance Management Department which performs the function of reporting and measuring risk, and reports its findings to the senior management as well as the Risk Committee.
The departments in GIC are: Administration & Personnel, Corporate Affairs & Planning, Economics & Strategy, Internal Audit, Investment Operations, Investment Policy & Strategy, Legal & Compliance, Risk & Performance Management, and Technology.
