GIC SI’s investment strategy is to select and cultivate the best performing private equity and venture capital funds. We also co-invest with the top private equity funds and other reputable strategic partners. Our long private equity experience, global presence and depth of capital enable us to respond swiftly to investment opportunities.
We are invested in many of the top private equity and venture capital funds in the US, Europe and Asia, and are among the largest investors in many of them. We also have a strong history of anchoring or supporting emerging fund management teams. When co-investing with our fund managers, we seek to contribute significant resources and add value to the deal. A key part of our offer is our value-added counsel based on our strong understanding of business practices in Asia.
GIC SI also makes direct investments in companies in Asia. Our main focus markets are China, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia and Southeast Asia. We look for well-run companies with sustainable differentiated strategies or market niches, and the potential to be industry leaders in the long-term. We see our role as complementing and adding value, through counsel and assistance, to the company’s management team. Companies can also leverage on our global network of business relationships with top-tier private equity funds and the portfolio companies of these funds.
The Global Infrastructure Group was set up recently to pursue investments in global infrastructure assets. The primary investment strategy is to make direct investments in mature, operational assets with a high degree of cash flow visibility and operate in regulated environments or in businesses with high barriers to entry. The group’s major focus is on large scale projects and takes a long term view of its infrastructure investments.
