Collaborations & Partnerships
Sustainability is core to GIC’s mandate as a long-term investor managing the reserves for Singapore. We actively inform market approaches and discourse through collaborations and partnerships with like-minded organizations, and as part of our sustainability strategy to increase engagement and disclosures on sustainability-related risks and opportunities. As a long-term investor, we welcome progress in sustainability-related initiatives that will help investors and companies make better business decisions.
Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC)
Climate change is one of the defining issues of our era, and AIGCC’s platform is well recognised for deepening global appreciation of Asian investors’ perspectives on the topic and the transition to a more environmentally sustainable economy. By deepening our partnership with AIGCC and like-minded peers, we accelerate our integration of climate change-related risks and opportunities into our investment practices, and better support our portfolio companies in their transitions towards more sustainable paths.
Climate Action 100+
Climate Action 100+ is an important investor initiative that encourages companies to strengthen climate-related financial disclosures and adopt business strategies that address long-term risks and opportunities related to climate change. Through its engagement efforts, it has helped build awareness and secure meaningful commitments from important organizations. We are collaborating with fellow investor signatories to build on this critical effort.
CDP plays an important role in driving greater disclosure on climate change-related business risks and opportunities. Its disclosure framework provides companies with clear guidance on material environmental metrics to measure, monitor, and disclose, while its database provides investors with consistent and financially relevant climate change-related metrics. Together, these sharpen the focus and quality of dialogues on climate risk and mitigation measures. We believe investors can benefit from having access to high-quality data, and support CDP’s efforts to encourage TCFD-aligned disclosures.
Financial Stability Board-Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
GIC supports the efforts by the Financial Stability Board-Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) to develop an internationally accepted framework on climate reporting. The TCFD provides a practical framework for companies to disclose their climate-related strategies, and for investors to incorporate climate change considerations into long-term investment decisions. As a long-term investor, we welcome the progress that has been made in sustainability-related disclosures, especially around enhancing comparability and materiality.
