Winners of the GIC Essay Prize

The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) is pleased to announce the two inaugural winners of the GIC Essay Prize.

Mr Michael Wan Chang Chin has clinched the top prize, while Mr Ting Zhuo Min emerged second in the essay competition. The top and second prizes are worth S$5,000 and S$2,000 respectively.

Launched in August 2010, the essay prize aims to deepen interest and understanding in the areas of finance and investment among undergraduates. The essay topic for 2010 was, ‘Post-Financial Crisis: Key Lessons, Opportunities and Recommendations for Asia’s Institutional Investors’.

The 2011 GIC Essay Prize will begin in October this year, with the essay topic, “What is the future impact on global investments from the expected growth in Asia?”

The essay competition is administered by the National University of Singapore’s Centre for Asset Management Research and Investments (CAMRI). Held on an annual basis, the essay competition is open to undergraduates studying in Singapore, or Singaporean and Singapore PR undergraduates studying overseas.
