    GIC Study Award and Mentorship Programme

    GIC and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) launched the GIC Study Award and Mentorship Programme in 2026 to support students facing challenges and help them stay on track with their studies to ‘cross the line’ and graduate.

    How it works

    The programme provides both a financial grant and tailored mentorship for ITE students who may face more challenges fulfilling their graduation requirements. It seeks to improve graduation outcomes and build a stronger foundation for long-term stability.

    Students are matched with GIC mentors to participate in a structured mentoring programme run by The Astronauts Collective over a period of six months.

    Impact on the community

    Since 2026, 27 ITE students have been paired with 23 GIC mentors through a mentorship programme dedicated to nurturing self-confidence, supporting academic success and opening up career exploration.

    “Being in this programme has given me valuable guidance, helped me understand my strengths and future goals, and eased my family’s financial burden so I can focus on my studies. My mentors listened and gave honest advice, assuring me that my background does not limit my future. They made me feel supported and more confident, motivating me to work harder in school. I also enjoyed the ‘open jio’ meetups with my mentors outside of the structured mentoring sessions, where we bonded over food and activities of our choice!”
