SINGAPORE, 14 November 2023 – GIC Chief Executive Officer Lim Chow Kiat has received the prestigious Dwight D. Eisenhower Global Citizenship Award for his and GIC’s efforts in leading with purpose, vision, and responsibility.

“The Eisenhower Global Citizenship Award is presented to recipients for their accomplishments in social responsibility, sustainable development, and the enhancement of the growth and development of humankind. Under Mr Lim’s leadership, GIC has exemplified a commitment to global citizenship, creating a positive impact through advocating a long-term mindset on every front,” said BCIU President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Tichansky.

Mr Lim was presented the award by Former US Treasury Secretary and TPG Rise Climate Executive Chairman Hank Paulson at a gala dinner organised by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) in New York on 13 November 2023.

“I have worked with GIC for many years and watched them lead with purpose, vision, and a strong sense of responsibility for the benefit of society. In fact, they set the standard for excellence, serving as a model of best practices for institutional investors around the globe,” Mr Paulson said.

Mr Lim highlighted that GIC’s purpose, which is to secure Singapore’s financial future, remains core in everything the firm does.

“We support enterprises and communities globally with long-term capital to enable them to scale up businesses, technologies, and infrastructure. By creating value and generating good returns, present and future generations of Singaporeans will continue to benefit from the reserves,” he added.

The gala was also attended by Citigroup Chief Executive Officer Jane Fraser, recipient of this year’s Eisenhower Global Leadership Award, and BlackRock Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Larry Fink, who presented the award.

BCIU is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting international understanding by facilitating dialogue between businesses and government leaders on a global scale.
