    The Majurity Trust Thriving Communities Initiative

    GIC partners The Majurity Trust on the Thriving Communities Initiative (TCI)—a place-based philanthropic approach to build thriving and connected communities.

    As part of this partnership, GIC funds the Thriving Communities Fund (TCF) and invests in capability-building across the sector, enabling learnings to be shared and amplified for greater impact.

    How it works

    TCI nurtures local leadership and empowers residents to design and lead initiatives with their community, for their community. This approach is currently piloted in Chong Pang, a neighbourhood in Singapore.

    The TCF is a grant for residents to implement ground-up solutions to address unseen or unmet needs in their neighbourhood. GIC employees help develop these projects and serve as volunteers through supporting and learning alongside resident leaders when they implement these projects.

    Impact on the community

    Since April 2025, six grants have been awarded under the TCF, and over 130 community and sector leaders have convened to exchange learnings and ideas about place-based solutions and community development approaches.
