Derek Tien is an Investment Analyst in the Public Equities department at GIC. He focuses on the Asia Technology sector within the Asia Equity Research team.

Derek joined GIC in 2001. Prior to GIC, Derek worked in California and Taiwan for IBM (International Business Machine) and TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation). He also spent six years as a financial analyst at Merrill Lynch and Hambrecht & Quest.

Derek holds a Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
