Kau Yi Kang is Head of the AI Alpha Group, an AI-native investment team creating and applying proprietary AI technologies to generate alpha. He leads a cross-functional team of investors, data scientists, and AI engineers using AI to reimagine the fundamental investment process.

Yi Kang joined GIC in 2003 and has held various positions in the Equities Department. He has managed quantitative equities, developed market equities, and emerging market equities portfolios. Yi Kang also played a key role in establishing the department’s data analytics capabilities. Prior to his current role, Yi Kang was Head of Global Emerging Markets Equities and concurrently oversaw the Quantitative Equities effort.

Yi Kang holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Cornell University, and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School.
