Mark Ong was appointed Chief Investment Officer for Public Equities in April 2024. He oversees GIC’s public equities portfolios, which invest across developed and emerging markets globally. Mr Ong started his career in 1996 as an Investment Officer with the Bond Department at GIC. He left GIC in 2005 as Head of Global Credit and started his own investment firm, Barker Investment Management, where he held the roles of Chief Investment Officer and Managing Partner. He returned to GIC as an equity portfolio manager in 2012 and was appointed Head of Asia Pacific Equities in 2015. From 2017 to 2024, Mr Ong also served as Co-Head of GIC’s firm-wide Technology Business Group.
Mr Ong holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (First Class Honours) from the National University of Singapore. He is also a CFA charterholder. In 2019, he completed the Stanford Executive Program.
