Charles Lim Sing Siong was appointed General Counsel in September 2014. He oversees the Legal and Compliance Department and is accountable for GIC’s legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. Prior to GIC, he was regional Head of Legal and Compliance for Credit Suisse and was in legal practice before that. He was awarded the Credit Suisse CEO Leadership Award and the Singapore Chief Legal Officer Award. He is a District Councilor with the Central Singapore Community Development Council, a Board Director of Hwa Chong Institution, and a Board Director of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. He is also an Advisory Board Member of the SMU Yong Pung How School of Law and Raffles Girls’ Primary School. He is also an Investment Committee Member of the Anglican Diocese of Singapore. For his service to the community, he was awarded the Community Long Service Awards (10 and 15 years) and conferred the Public Service Medal (PBM) and the Public Service Star (BBM) by the President of Singapore.
Mr Lim holds a Bachelor of Laws from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Laws from the University of Oxford. He is called to the Bar in Singapore and the UK. He is a qualified arbitrator and Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.
