Raj Iyer is the Head of Structured Finance and Head of Europe, Fixed Income & Multi Asset (FIMA). In this role, Raj oversees the portfolio construction and management of a broad range of structured products and alternative credit investments globally. Raj is based in GIC’s London office.

Raj joined GIC in 2023 to start the Alternative Credit Group. Prior to GIC, Raj was Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager at Canyon Partners based in Los Angeles, where he led a team that invested in merger arbitrage, special situations, and distressed credit. Before Canyon, he was a Managing Director at Colden Capital, an event-driven hedge fund, and held roles in equity derivatives at Citigroup and Morgan Stanley. He has served on the Board of Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc and is the Vice Chairman of the Board at SpecifX, Inc.

Raj holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University, and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, where he was a Ford Fellow and Palmer Scholar.
